Dear Birthmother,

It is the night before Thanksgiving and we were just thinking how grateful we are for all the wonderful blessings God has granted us. You have been on our minds a lot as we prepare this letter and I realize how grateful we are for you. It’s only because of your unselfish, brave decision that Dominic and I will be granted this greatest of gifts. Thank you for bringing this precious new soul into the world and thank you for considering us to love, nurture, and guide this child through life.

I have tried to imagine what you are going through and my heart goes out to you. You are truly taking the road less traveled. Even though I’m sure you are scared and perhaps lonely at times, I pray that you are comforted in knowing that we will cherish your child forever.

Dominic and I are very much in love with each other and in love with life. We are financially secure and have rewarding careers. Please know your child will grow up in a supportive, nurturing, and loving home where she will feel safe and loved. She will be encouraged to dream and to pursue her dreams. Our faith is a fundamental part of our everyday lives. We trust and rely on God in all that we do and believe he is guiding all of us as we journey through this adoption process. We will make sure your little girl has a strong spiritual foundation in life.

I want to be there when she gets home from school, and I am looking forward to the simple things such as baking cookies with her and watching her play with the train under the Christmas tree. We both can’t wait to take our little girl to the beach, to stroll her around the neighborhood, and to see her smile. We will be the proud parents when she’s in her first school play. There are so many things we dream of sharing with our little girl.

Our families are very supportive about our plans to adopt and they are very excited about having another new baby in the family. My sister adopted a beautiful baby boy several years ago. I am his godmother and love him very much. He is such a joy to us all. My sister-in-law and her husband adopted twins, so our families have grown through adoption and all these precious children are loved and truly accepted as part of our family. We are all anxiously awaiting this next little miracle. She will be showered with so much love.

Please know that you are not alone. When I feel alone I always try and remember – Footsteps in the Sand…“The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I Love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

May your faith give you comfort, strength and hope as you make this difficult decision, and may you know that God will carry you through. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Grainna and Dominic
