Dear Birthmother,

God has a plan for each of us, and this is the point in our lives where God has planned for us to meet. God has blessed you with a pregnancy and an ability to make another family complete. What an incredible gift He has given you and what a courageous decision you are making to place your child for adoption. God has chosen Mike and me to adopt a child, and we are thrilled at the possibility of bringing a child into our home to love and cherish. We are so grateful to you for taking the time to learn more about us.

At our wedding over seven years ago, Mike and I chose a reading from the Book of Corinthians, Chapter 1, verse, 13, entitled “Love.” We have referred to this reading many times since. Mike and I chose this reading because we thought that it spoke to us, but after several years of marriage, the reading means even more to us today. We have always believed that, “Love is patient, love is kind…it does not boast, it is not proud…it is not easily angered.” Marriage requires work and diligence, but remembering that love has patience and kindness and does not easily anger has been essential in maintaining the strong, loving marriage that Mike and I have today.

Shortly after we were married, we knew that we wanted to begin a family. We struggled through several years of infertility treatments before we were blessed with our son, Benjamin. The joy that Benjamin immediately filled us with was immeasurable. We knew that we wanted nothing more than to feel that joy once more as we share our love with another child. Again, we turned to the Book of Corinthians, “It [love]… always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Believing that love doesn’t give up is what has convinced us that having another child is within our reach. We believe that God’s plan is for that child to come into our lives through adoption.

Mike and I live a faith-filled life on a daily basis. In addition to attending Church every Sunday and having Benjamin baptized early in his life, we also work very hard to fill our lives with family and friends that hold the same values that we possess. Many of my friends are people with whom I attended Catholic school. They demonstrate the values that we learned throughout our schooling. We also live in a neighborhood filled with families whom model God in their lives everyday. They have kind and loving children, and strong marriages. Mike and I both have families that are wonderful examples of the way in which we want our children to live their lives. They always put family first, help others in need, and clearly show their love to one another. Finally, Mike and I make family a priority; we appreciate one another and model the way in which we want our child and future child to live, having God as their guiding force.

Corinthians ends, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Mike and I pray that one day faith and hope will allow us the opportunity to love another child unconditionally. May God bless you as you make your decision.
