Dear Birthmother,
We thank you for the courageous choice you have made in placing your baby with a loving couple. We are truly grateful that you are considering us, Laine and Alicia, as the couple who will be blessed with raising your beloved child. Your act of love will be the most incredible gift we could ever imagine.
Laine and I met in 1998 and continued a long distance relationship for 4 years before being united in Holy Matrimony. We have always wanted a family so when we encountered difficulty in having children, we didn't think twice before proceeding with adoption. We are anxiously waiting, with open arms and hearts full of love, to become first time parents. We feel fortunate to have each other. From the start of our relationship, we have shared the same values faith, family and friends. We enjoy many of the same things and are both easy-going individuals. We feel a sense of security knowing we are committed to one another for the rest of our lives. We enjoy spending time outdoors walking or bicycling on a Wildlife Refuge near our home. Being outdoors allows us to see the true beauty of nature, God has created. We also enjoy spending time at home rather than being on the go. We enjoyed working together in a local manufacturing plant until January 2006, at which time we decided I would quit work in preparation of becoming a stay-at-home mom.
We live in a small town where Laine enjoys being a Firefighter/EMT. Our three-bedroom home is located on nearly one acre with a fenced-in backyard. It is one story so we don't have to worry about the safety of stairs. We have a beautiful nursery filled with toys, clothes and all the necessities a child could need. We have one dog, Izzy, which Laine got for me a week after we were married. She is a wonderful part of the family. Izzy is very gentle with children, and enjoys playing fetch and being with people.
We spend a lot of time with extended family. To keep in touch, we join Laine's family at the home of his parents each Sunday for lunch. Twin ten year old nieces are the only grandchildren on Laine's side so his parents are looking forward to welcoming a new addition to the family. They have a nice home with plenty of room for grandchildren to visit. The majority of my family lives three hours away and we visit each other about once a month. My five siblings have nine children between them 5 boys and 4 girls all of whom are very excited about having another cousin to love. We have a wonderful, supportive group of friends with young children who can't wait for us to be blessed with a child. We celebrate birthdays and holidays with family and friends and support each other in whatever way one needs support.
We are active members of a local congregation and hope to pass our faith in God on to our child. Laine's role in the church includes song leading and prayer while I enjoy my role as teacher for the toddlers in our church.
Laine and I enjoy our time together as a couple, but feel one thing is missing to complete a family of our own a child. We are ready to devote ourselves to a baby and wait, with anticipation, for the call telling us we have been chosen to become parents. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is so refreshing. Each stage a child goes through is so much fun to observe and participate in.
Hopefully, this letter has given you a better idea of who we are. Please know that if you choose us as parents for your precious child, he/she will grow up knowing the ultimate gift of love you have given.
With love, Laine and Alicia
